Eating Disorder Counseling

Eating Disorders are rampant.  Patterns developed in childhood, along with being shamed for being over or under weight, keep these patterns from changing.  Being at an unhealthy weight effects self-esteem, health problems., i.e., diabetes, high BP, digestive issues and more.

You can experience weight loss and maintain this weight loss, however, it does require understanding that compulsive overeating is an addiction. Eating Disorder Counseling can help you to overcome these challenges and get on the road to a healthy lifestyle.

At Integrity Counseling in Las Cruces, I assist clients in coming to terms with the emotional wounding that promotes being addicted to junk food and binge eating or starving.  Very often, clients with eating disorders have been sexually abused, so this needs to be addressed also, typically with EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). 

It is very possible to eat three, healthy meals a day and let go of the diet mentality–I know, because I have been free of junk food and starve/bingeing for close to 30 years.  I also highly recommend combining Overeaters Anonymous with psychotherapy to conquer any eating disorder.
